Even though they had been sacrificing lambs for generations, most didn’t recognize the Lamb of God when He walked among them here on Earth. But John the Baptist did. When he saw Jesus approaching the Jordan River where he was baptizing others, he called out, “Behold the Lamb … who takes away the sins of the world.”
When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved once and for all He truly was God’s own son, the promised heir of David’s throne and offspring of Abraham through whom all nations of the Earth would be blessed.
Jesus wasn’t fully recognized then as the Messiah, God’s anointed one, and He isn’t by many today either. But the book of Revelation tells us that one day we will behold our King and hear the praise of a multitude of angels saying, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain. … One day, every knee will bow, in heaven, on earth, and even under the earth, and confess that Jesus Christ, our Messiah, is Lord.
