Singing of our salvation and praying to God with thanksgiving are ways our family can worship together. This week, let’s show our kids that reading and obeying God’s word is also an act of worship. It’s another way we can make His name great and give Him the glory only He deserves.
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means following and obeying His ways. It includes sharing the Word of God and the love of Jesus with those around us. This week, we will show our kids that our lives begin to look more like His when we grow and mature as His disciples.
In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul lists nine things that characterize a life filled with the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
We call these the fruit of the Spirit. Just like mature fruit doesn’t magically appear on a tree branch, full-grown and sweet, the fruit of the Spirit takes time and care to develop in our kids’ lives.
Discipleship is a lifelong commitment to growth and change. So we learn, we pray and we seek God’s will. We obey. We talk about faith with our family in the morning, the evening and all the time between, and encourage one another in the Lord. All the while, the Holy Spirit is growing good fruit in our lives, making His followers more like Jesus one day at a time.
