What Does God Require?

Does anyone in your family strive for perfection? 

Many kids struggle with unrealistic and unattainable expectations. But it doesn’t just affect kids- as adults, we strive for perfection too and constantly look at everyone around us to see how we do or don’t measure up.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus made this surprising statement: “You must therefore be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” God requires perfection in our thoughts, actions, and desires- and we simply can’t measure up to that on our own.  But, as followers of Christ, when He looks at us, He sees the perfect righteousness of His own precious Son.

The next time one of your kids struggles with perfection, remind them they’ll never reach it on their own. Praise God; He not only set the standard of perfection, He then met it on our behalf.
