Talk Together

Family conversations with God’s Word.

What are some things people do to show you they love you? Did you know God shows us His love for us too? He doesn’t just say He loves us; He shows us!

The Bible gives all kinds of examples of God’s love. But the ultimate example of God’s love was shown when He sent Jesus to Earth to die on the cross for our sins. Before Jesus died, He spent time teaching His disciples about love. Let’s read what He said in John 15, verses 9-17.

ESV

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

Jesus taught His disciples that one of the greatest ways someone can show they love another person is to lay down their life for them. But Jesus didn’t just teach this; He lived it. When Jesus died for our sins and rose again, He laid down His life for us.

God’s gift of salvation is available to anyone who believes Jesus alone can save us from our sins. As a follower of Jesus, you can know you are forgiven. And Jesus doesn’t just love us now; He will love us for all eternity!

The next time you experience doubt and wonder if God loves you, remember His steadfast love. He will always love you, forever and always.
