How do I know God will forgive my sins?
Featured
Because He says He will. 1 John 1:9 says: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Since we know God’s word is true (John 17:17), we can trust that He will do the things He promises us. That includes forgiving our sins when we confess them to Him.
Is it ok to purposefully sin because God will forgive me?
Featured
No. While God will forgive our sins completely, as Christians we are new creations in Christ and should no longer desire to sin. Colossians 3 talks about how Christians are empowered by Christ to put away their sinful habits and live for Jesus. We will still sin because we are not perfect, but the desire to actively pursue sin should be replaced with a desire to actively pursue Christ.
