Have you ever stumbled on a mystery? Something that seemed impossible to understand? A problem no one could solve? Can you tell me about it?
Where there’s a mystery, there’s often a good detective. A detective finds the answer to unsolvable problems!
Many years ago, a man of God named Daniel lived in the great empire of Babylon. Despite living as a captive in a foreign country, Daniel served the Lord faithfully. Little did he know God would use him to solve a mystery for the powerful King Nebuchadnezzar!
King Nebuchadnezzar had been having bad dreams. He could not figure out what his dream meant. It bothered him so much he couldn’t even sleep!
He called his team of magicians and sorcerers and demanded they give him answers about his dream. His team tried to find the answer, but they couldn’t figure it out. Only God knew what the king’s dream meant.
King Nebuchadnezzar was so angry he planned to kill all the wise men in Babylon, including Daniel and his friends! But God had other plans. Daniel prayed to God and asked God to show him what the king’s dream meant. Let’s find out what happened next by reading Daniel 2:19-23.

Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to Whom be long wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for You have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of You, for You have made known to us the king's matter.”
What did Daniel do after God showed him the answer to King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? He praised God!
When the king asked Daniel how he solved the dream, Daniel immediately gave glory to God! He knew he couldn’t have helped the king on his own. God is the ultimate detective because nothing is a mystery to Him. Only He was powerful and wise enough to know the answer to the king’s dream. Daniel praised God for that.
Today, we serve the same God Daniel served! He knows the answer to all the mysteries in this world! He is the true King of the universe. His reign lasts forever. Praise God for being our God forever!
