As we approach Thanksgiving, we will spend the next several weeks following four specific prayers recorded in the Bible. The prayers of Moses, Hannah, the Psalmist and Daniel are a great example for our family to follow as we praise God this season.
When God called the people of Israel out of slavery in Egypt, it seemed He led them to the edge of the Red Sea just to be overtaken by Pharaoh’s army. Instead, He parted the seas before them, and the entire nation walked across on dry ground, leaving Pharaoh’s army to be swallowed up in the depths of the sea. As Israel stood on the opposite shore watching the Lord’s deliverance, Moses praised God, saying “The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him.”
We too can praise God for His great salvation. As followers of Christ, we’ve been freed from the slavery of sin and given new life. Take time as a family this week to follow the example of Moses. Give thanks for the salvation He offers to everyone who calls on Him, and together, praise the one Who alone is worthy of all our praise.
