How Far Will the Light Reach?

This past summer our family traveled to Acadia National Park. At the park, cars begin lining up at 4 a.m. to drive the road to the highest peak on the Eastern Seaboard: Cadillac Mountain. From the summit, park-goers can be the first to see the sun rise over the United States, the first to see golden rays spread across the Atlantic Ocean and the first to see the sun pour its light into the pitch-black sky.

Soon after John the Baptist was born, his father, Zechariah (who was filled with the Holy Spirit), prophesied a Savior was coming. After enduring more than 400 years of silence, the Israelites finally began to see rays of light pour into the darkness. This week, praise God for Jesus Christ, the Son Himself, Who came to Earth as a baby and brought lifegiving salvation to the ends of the earth.
