In Colossians chapter 4, Paul says Christians should walk in wisdom. Did you know the Old Testament book of Proverbs talks a lot about wisdom? Check out Proverbs 2:6.
Where does wisdom come from?
How can you use God’s wisdom to help you behave well?
Applying God’s wisdom to our lives will help us make the most of our time here on Earth. Check out the OT-NT Connection to learn more about wisdom and where it comes from.
Our behavior is important because when we live life like the Bible says we should, we point others to Jesus. (1 Peter 3:15) There are people all over the world who need to know the Gospel. When we obey our parents or listen to our teacher (even when it’s hard) we show the world we’re different. Jesus has changed our lives, and He can change the lives of those around us too.
Colossians 4 talks about living a life seasoned with salt. In other words, anyone who has given their life to Jesus should live in a way that shows others they’re saved. Think of something that tastes better with salt (like french fries or salted caramel chocolate!). Invite your parent or mentor to share a salty snack with you. Talk with them about some ways each of you can live your lives “seasoned with salt.” Write in your journal the ideas you come up with.
