Is the Bible True?

The culture surrounding our children will teach them that morality and truth are relative, and what’s true for you isn’t always true for me. But this directly contradicts God’s Word. God is the source of all truth. Teaching our children to use God’s Word as the foundation for everything they think, say and do is one of the greatest responsibilities and privileges we have as parents.

Not long ago, my family was able to visit an active archeological dig. The archeologists delicately removed the soil bit by bit, scanning carefully for artifacts. The small, broken pieces of pottery they found didn’t seem significant, but when displayed with hundreds of others, they told a detailed story of a time long ago. God’s Word is completely sufficient on its own; but archeological finds such as the Dead Sea Scrolls show us that even thousands of years later, the original words of Scripture have been preserved. The accuracy and authority of God’s Word have been protected not just by careful scribes over the centuries but by the very God who wrote it.

In a culture that is always changing, God never will. When those around us let us down and break our trust, we can be confident He is perfectly truthful and completely trustworthy. And because God’s Word is true, we can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loves us deeply and wants a relationship with us. In Proverbs 22:6, we are told to Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. You are doing the hard work. Keep going! God is faithful, and His Word is true.
