How Does God Love?

I spent many nights reading my baby girls to sleep. As their little eyes got heavier and heavier, we rocked and read the familiar words to Guess How Much I Love You. More often than not, they didn’t fall asleep during the first book, so we moved on to I Love You Because You’re You and I Love You as Big as the World, and Wherever You Are, My Love Will Find You.

I wanted my girls to hear early and often that their daddy and I loved them more than they could ever imagine. Even though the words of these books are beautiful, they will never capture the love of their heavenly Father, who sent Jesus, the Word Himself, out of His great and abundant love. 

The world around us will teach our children that love is selfish, fleeting and temporary. Let’s spend the next four weeks teaching our kids God’s definition of love, a love that is selfless, steadfast and eternal. A love that isn’t based on what we do or who we are, but only on WHO HE IS.
