Awana Disciples 5M Kids, Forming Tomorrow’s Christian Leaders Today

Article October 26, 2022

In Revelation 7 we read John’s vision of a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10, ESV).

This captivating imagery should awaken us from preconceived notions that we’ll all be the same in eternity. For John to see the distinction between people groups, their nationalities, tribes and languages meant there was some essence of our global differences in this eternal multitude. This may sound like a kumbaya vision, especially when it seems like we live in a world of increased polarization; but the truth is we, especially here at Awana, are seeing this vision of John come to fruition even now.

Right now, Awana is reaching more than 5 million kids on a weekly basis in over 130 countries. Through resourcing local churches and equipping leaders worldwide, we’re seeing earthly evidence of John’s eternal vision. Churches around the globe are reaching kids in communities like yours, as well as those that are dramatically different. The Gospel and discipleship are being spread, seeded and watered by loving, caring adults throughout the world; and the faith of children of every color and a multitude of languages is being formed for today and future generations.

While John’s revelation was eternal in scope,
we’re seeing the first fruits of this future today.

This means that the Church of tomorrow throughout the continents of North and South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe is being fortified through the discipleship of children, the Church’s future leaders. In addition to this amazing truth is the fact that as Awana forms lasting faith in kids, we’re also forming faith in future cultural and community leaders as well. This means today’s Awana kids are tomorrow’s pastors, teachers, mayors, entertainers, musicians, filmmakers, writers, scientists, technologists and other influencers of culture. Simply, as Awana reaches kids with the Gospel and discipleship, we’re forming tomorrow’s global Christian leaders in our churches today!

While John’s revelation was eternal in scope, we can be encouraged that we’re seeing the first fruits of this future today through dedicated loving, caring adults walking with kids through the Truth of God’s Word. Praise God for the ability to reach 5 million kids worldwide! Praise God for church leaders, volunteers and people like you who love Jesus and desire to see children follow Him.

Reaching 5 million kids weekly with the Gospel and discipleship is a big deal, but we’re far from done. Together we can continue to extend the ability of the Church to reach the global population of children and youth. Together we can help to ensure all children throughout the world come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ, no matter their context or culture. Together we can join John and see his vision recorded in Revelation chapter 7 come to fruition, today and forever!
