How Can I Respond to Any Situation?

For the next few weeks, we will be sharing Paul’s letter to the Philippians with our families. While reading someone else’s mail is typically frowned upon, we get the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the Philippian believers and read the mail they received. Paul’s letter is full of emotion, encouragement and personal stories.

Have you ever heard the story of Lydia and how her family began to follow Jesus, or when Paul and Silas were in prison and a great earthquake caused the prison gates to open, which led to the jailer’s entire family believing in Jesus? Both of these stories – and so many more – happened in Philippi. It’s no wonder the Philippians held a special place in Paul’s heart.

When Paul wrote this letter to the Philippian believers, he was in prison and eventually became a martyr because of his faith. But despite all the troubles and trials he faced, he encouraged his readers to “rejoice.” So this week, let’s focus on teaching our children no matter what comes our way, as followers of Christ we too can “rejoice.”
